About
Mission Statement
Clay is the earth beneath our feet, and Plenty is the bounty it provides. I founded Clay and Plenty, LLC in the spring of 2015 after many years of experience in organic farming, land stewardship, and landscaping. My mission is to create landscapes that are not merely static “installations” but living breathing ecosystems that reward their owner’s investment with a myriad of function- from pleasant aesthetic and feel to edible and medicinal products, to wildlife habitat, to stormwater management. I believe strongly in my commitment to local economies and local resources, eschewing the national big box supply chain wherever and whenever possible. I believe that we can strengthen our communities and our ecosystems through a return to small scale artisanal producers. Each of my designs is a unique work of art that reflects both the person who inhabits the space and the surrounding ecology of our mid-Atlantic biome. My plants are predominantly native, many of them grown in my greenhouse from hand collected seed. I source my stone from Pennsylvania’s Pocono mountains and my lumber from Atlantic white cedar stands in the New Jersey pine barrens. I will also re-use and upcycle whatever material I can get my hands on that cries out for a new purpose- river stones, scrap metal, antiques and curios all find their way into the mix. With an eye for aesthetics, quality work, and commitment to responsible practices, I look forward working with you to create a unique space you’ll enjoy for many years to come.
